Humans of Lagos "I was born in the Northern part of the country. So when my mother's house was razed down during the ethno-religious crisis there, she moved my siblings and I to the Eastern part to join our father. I continued my schooling in the East for the next two years, but stopped when my father died. My paternal parents sent us packing out of my father's house to inherit his property. They accused my mother of not loving her husband while he was alive. She didn't leave the North when my father left because of her love f or her booming business. We became homeless, and my mother became sick. I met a guy who spoke gloriously about the city of Lagos, so I decided to relocate to the town. I entered Lagos without having accommodation nor any job to do in mind. I stayed homeless for years doing odd jobs to survive. Just last week after having spent four years in Lagos, I was able to rent an apartment to reside in. I really don't know where life is taking me ...

Humans of Lagos "One day, just one day, I will leave this city for another town. I have seven girlfriends here, and four out of them have already taken me to their parents as their future husband. I cannot split myself for them to marry, and they are are not ready to succumb to polygamy. When I leave; they will rant and curse me, their parents will issue threats upon my life. However, I will stay safe in another town. The wise among them will move on and accept that I'm just the crazy tutor they must learn from. Perhaps, my evil is more than my good." © FERT, 2016

Humans of Lagos "Some years back, as a renowned activist on campus, I had a beautiful girl as my very close friend.  She visited me very well in my hostel and I do reciprocate. So on this particular day, she was with me, we were talking about things as usual. Then I started kissing her, she responded. It continued for a while but she signaled for a stop. And then I obeyed. She left my place in anger, and she won't speak with me for the rest of the semester.  I sincerely didn't plan to kiss her, I never wanted to take advantage of her, this is a lady that I passed my night in her place without any sexual affection. Eventually, she forgave me. She explained that I seduced her with my eyeballs.  Well, cos I don't want further war, I allowed the blame to be put on me. Till date, I still feel that she seduced me just as she will be thinking too. Had she announced that I took advantage of her then...people will never hear my side of the story, they will judge me and m...

The 'wise' Nigerian kings are gladly sending their pregnant wives to the USA to give birth to children with foreign citizenship. Nigerian military generals are counselling their children to joining the USA military. Professors in Nigeria are encouraging their wards to go get degrees at universities overseas. The smart Nigerians are getting connected to the politicians somehow. The gullible Nigerians are still taking about political parties. The country Nigeria doesn't exist in the mind of many hustlers. © FERT, 2015

I love my family, so I blocked them all from viewing my Facebook account.  FATHER: Stop thinking that you can achieve anything meaningful without God. ME: But I believe in God sir. FATHER: (Cuts in). Yet you don't fellowship with the congregation o f God's people. ME: (Surprised). Is Senator Adam Eve a God's person? FATHER: Don't judge, God alone sees our heart. ME: Okay, I want to be worshipping one of the Yoruba dieties. FATHER: No dear, you know nothing about any of these Yoruba dieties. Moreover, you're born into the Christian home on a Sabbath.  ME: But your father, sir, was a worshipper of Olókun...The Sea Goddess of Wealth, and you're born into it... FATHER: (Interrupts). But when I heard the divine call, I dumped the believe. ME: (Smiles). I think I'm hearing Olókun voice. It sounded like the roaring of a lion, having the Ijesa-Yoruba accent calling unto me to come and be worshipping him. FATHER: That's a lie. You are...
