Humans of Lagos Episode 9

Right from my Junior Secondary School days, I lost interest in academics.
I saw many tertiary institution graduates in my street borrowing ties and shoes so that they could wear to their various endless job interviews.

I do see them trekking long distance all in a bid to reduce the transport expenses to such job interview venues like those ancient Africans embarking on holy pilgrimage to Mekkah and Medina in the present day Saudi Arabia.

I never took my classes serious, I didn't bother to improve my spoken English language; as I believed in my Pidgin English as the most effective means of communication in the Lagos city.

My teachers were busy reiterating that "without studying hard, we won't become something great in the future."
How they lied, they were only repeating the normal rhetoric meant for students.
I tried taking my business studies a bit serious, but when I discovered that they talked to much about figures rather than money I gave up.

I could not afford spending my precious time on terminology like: account brought forward, account carry over and the rest of the jargon.

I drew living life and making success inspiration from the rich and famous National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) official in my street.

I loved the way he spent his money lavishly, I admired the kind of connections he had with the politicians in government, and for the fact that police officers do come to his house to drink beers and get some money made me love him the most.

I was determined to be like him someday.

On completion of my secondary schooling examinations, I headed straight to the park. I didn't even disturb myself to know what my examination result was like.

I joined the NURTW people, then mentored by that my street brother.
And in no time, I climbed the success ladder of my career.

I see politicians daily during cash remittance, earn police respect and now, I'm well loved by all the ladies that love money.

My profession-Road Union is the fourth tier of the arm of government after the Executives, Legislative, and Law enforcement.

I am successful now because I chose the right path early in life.
