Body:
My dear brethren, gather 'round and listen to a tale of woe and misplaced priorities! The sense of care is fast dying, rife competition, and hatred is the order of the day nowadays. In our beloved land, we put importance on what should be optional, while we abandon the necessary for fate to take control.
Take, for example, the saga of Multichoice, the mighty owner of DSTV and GOTV. They dared to increase their subscription fees, and lo and behold, the citizens screamed, "Reduce it or we boycott!" Now, let's pause and think, my friends. Multichoice provides a luxury product, it’s like the Gucci of TV. If you can’t afford it, do you march into Gucci and demand they lower their prices? No, you simply admire from afar or save up! We don’t tell luxury brands like Nike or Balenciaga what prices to put on their products. We scramble and jostle to own these items just to flaunt them on Instagram. The book of Lasgidi chapter 3 verse 5 wisely states that the inability of people to think properly will make them waste away.
But oh, the drama! The citizens of our dear Nigeria are now demanding that the government force Multichoice to lower its tariffs to a price they deem reasonable. They want the luxury but on their terms. It’s like walking into a Ferrari dealership and asking for a discount because you feel it’s only fair. It’s wrong now!
And what’s more, they are wishing ill on the company, hoping it collapses just to show their anger. They forget that thousands of Nigerians are employed by Multichoice. They don’t care if those people lose their jobs and end up sitting at home watching... well, nothing because there’ll be no DSTV!
We will continue to watch other countries progress, but we won’t move forward ourselves, not with this mindset that we have placed in our hearts. Let’s get our priorities straight, shall we?
Remember, even a dog knows not to bark up the wrong tree unless there’s something to gain.
